Make your own hot drink set from scratch using pottery throwing and hand building techniques.

110 British pounds
Bridge Street

Service Description

Join us in the Flint and Gaia studio for half a day of pottery fun! Create your own hot drink set from scratch using both wheel throwing and hand building techniques. Start the day with a demonstration of how to use the potters wheel to throw your forms, then have a go yourself! Guided by Scarlett you will learn the basics of pottery throwing, learn to centre, pull out, pull up and shape your clay to create your mug form. You will then have a tea break where you can relax with a hot drink and some biscuits while watching a handbuilding demonstration. You will then use hand building techniques to create your own saucer, spoon and handle for your mug. You will then get back on the wheel to throw a small milk jug and will be shown how to make a lip to pour the milk from! Any left over time after making all four pieces can be spent playing on the wheel or handbuilding, its your choice! After your 3 hour pottery session, you will leave your pots with Scarlett who will finish off your set by trimming your pots, attaching handles and glazing in your choice of colour. Classes are for a maximum of 2 people, so you will get lots of guidance where needed! What’s included? Your ticket includes full tuition from a professional potter, use of facilities and tools, finishing, firing and glazing of your set (mug, saucer, milk jug and spoon). Additional pots can be fired at an additional cost. Your tutor will offer you a selection of glazes to choose from. A hot drink and biscuits. Ticket price is per person. When will I be able to collect my pieces? Your pieces will be refined, fired and glazed and will be ready for you to collect between 6-8 weeks. Your pieces can be posted at an extra charge. Things to consider: An apron will be provided but pottery is very messy as the apron may not protect all clothing. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting mucky! Hair should be worn up for health and safety. All jewellery such as rings, watches and bracelets must be removed. Flat, closed toe shoes must be worn. Wheels may be harmful to a person who has a pacemaker. Long nails should be avoided. This will make your experience extremely difficult for you. Ticket price is PER PERSON. If you'd like a private session for two, two tickets need to be purchased.
