Flint and Gaia Pottery Studio is owned and ran by married couple, Sean and Scarlett Flint. You'll find them both potting around the studio!
Their love story began at Denby Pottery where Sean was the master potter and Scarlett was his apprentice. Their professional relationship soon blossomed into something special, after realising life was simply better with each other in. Sean grounded Scarlett and Scarlett lifted Sean when they needed it the most.
Running Flint and Gaia together is taking them back to where they fell in love, creating with clay in a pottery studio.

Scarlett started her pottery journey at Nottingham Trent University where she found wheel throwing not long after her dad passed away. She very quickly realised that being behind the wheel was healing her heart, mind and soul one pot at a time.
She then set up a home studio where she was self taught until she met Sean at Denby Pottery and became his apprentice. Once qualified, she took the leap to set up Flint and Gaia to bring the healing properties of clay to everyone.
She finds inspiration in nature and her own spirituality. Scarlett use pottery as a form of wellness and meditation and bring an element of this to her lessons, helping you to find your zen.
Sean began his pottery journey at Bournemouth University where he first got his hands on clay. Sean was eager to try the wheel but didn't get the opportunity at university, so popped into Poole Pottery and asked if he could have a go!
Sean then became a trainee potter at Poole Pottery until they closed. At that point, he was plucked by Denby Pottery to be their Master Potter, which he remained until Denby unfortunately went into administration in 2026.
With the freedom to create pottery for himself, Sean now creates his own ceramics inspired by native wildlife. Foraging for forms and lines from nature and exploring how our past hunter gatherers depicted the nature they used for food.
The Flint and Gaia pottery studio is a relaxing space for you to be able to explore the art of pottery. Care has been taken to ensure a light, airy and quiet space, where you can feel the grounding benefits of pottery without distractions.
If you're coming to a pottery throwing sessions, these are limited to 2 people to make it an intimate space for you to learn and have a lot of time with your tutor. Workshops are limited to 8 people.
Here at Flint and Gaia we want no annoying noises putting you off. Sensory overload is something which Scarlett is very familiar with, we know how annoying it is trying to learn (or teach) in a noisy environment! This is why we limit our numbers and make sure the room is dedicated to the event your attending.
