Service Description

We will discuss a regular day of the week and time that suits you. I like to cater you lessons to suit you! Who is it for? Aimed at complete beginners or those who have attended our Pottery Throwing Introduction. Perfect for those wanting to try a new skill or who want to build up their confidence in throwing in a relaxing, mindful environment. These intimate sessions have a maximum of 2 people so are a peaceful environment to help you get in the zone to develop your skills in a way that you can relax. What will I learn? During the 1.5 hour session, you will start to build up your skills in throwing. From centering, opening out, pulling up and shaping. You will be able to create pots of your choice, with full tuition from a professional potter, offering different techniques to help you find your rhythm and give you the freedom to craft intuitively and mindfully. Each lesson will be catered to your skills and a personal lesson plan will be created for your next session. Once you feel ready, you will be recommended to our Intermediate Lessons. What’s included? Your ticket includes 1.5 hours of full tuition from a professional potter, use of facilities and tools, firing and glazing of your favourite pot each lesson. Your tutor will offer you a selection of glazes to choose from. Additional pots can be fired and glazed at an additional cost. 2kg of clay is included per lesson and there is option to purchase more clay on the day. When will I be able to collect my pieces? Your pieces will be refined, fired and glazed and will be ready for you to collect between 6-8 weeks. Your pieces can be posted at an extra charge. 6 week course example (this is just a guideline, weeks may alter depending on skill and wanted outcome of the customer!) Week 1: Introduction to pottery throwing technique and tools. Week 2: Throwing pots - focusing on technique and shape. Preparing and weighing clay. Week 3: Introduction to turning (bottom of pots from week 2) Week 4: Throwing pots ready to manipulate/alter the following week - eg mugs, jugs, t-light holders. Week 5: Trimming pots, shaping, attaching handles, cutting holes. Week 6: Decorating with black slip - patterns or illustrations. If not wanting to decorate - mindful pottery throwing instead.

Cancellation Policy

This is an event for participants over 16 years of age. If you'd like to book for a child, please contact us before booking. Individual Bookings Your booking fee secures your place – we cannot reserve places without full payment. You have 14 days to cancel or change your booking. After this time, no refunds will be offered but bookings can be amended up to 28 days prior to your booking. After this time, no refunds or amendments are permitted. If we cancel or alter the session, a full refund or the option to rearrange will be offered. Group bookings To secure your booking a non-refundable 50% deposit is required. The remaining balance must be paid at least one month before the event takes place. Group bookings are for a maximum of 8 participants. Due to space, no more than this will be permitted. Individual places on a group booking will not be refunded. If a member of your party can no longer attend, it will be up to you to fill this space or pay the ticket of the missing party member. If we cancel or alter the session, a full refund or the option to rearrange will be offered. If you cancel your booking less than one month before the class, the entire booking cost still applies. No refunds will be given.
